Single Visit Endodontics: to proceed or not to proceed, that is the question in recent endodontics ?!

The goal of endodontic therapy is to maintain the natural tooth functioning through either preserving the pulp vitality or eliminating nonvital infected pulp through complete disinfection and 3-D obturation of the root canal system. It is important to continuously adopt new treatment strategies for improving the endodontic outcome. The introduction of new technologies and materials in endodontics has directed the clinicians toward fast, single visit endodontics. However, it is still a dilemma for the general practitioner as well as the specialist as to when and how to proceed with single-visit endodontics. Using intracanal medication between root canal treatment visits, bio-ceramics and regenerative procedure applications in single versus multiple visits are of the controversial issues in endodontics.

Objectives

The current lecture aims to discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and outcome of different single-visit endodontic therapies in the clinical settings. Accordingly, the clinician could select the appropriate clinical cases that are indicated for treatment with single or multiple visits endodontic therapy.
